Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Longtail

Longtail

Longtail, a pale tabby tom with black stripes, is a recurring ThunderClan warrior introduced in Into the Wild. He is the first to challenge Firestar due to his kittypet origins, and fights him when he first arrives in the Clan. This results in Firestar's collar being ripped off, which is then taken as a sign that he will be accepted into the Clan. Longtail's ear is torn, resulting in a scar. Longtail maintains a grudge against Firestar for much of the series, not only because Firestar defeated him and gave him this scar, but also because he is a strong supporter of Tigerstar, Firestar's chief rival.

Extras!

Longtail's attitude slowly matures over the course of the series, and he develops an eventual respect for Firestar as a result of his repeatedly demonstrated courage, something Longtail lacks. He revokes his allegiance with Tigerstar after his exile, and sets himself toward becoming a respected warrior within the Clan. His loyalty is further proven when he volunteers to be bait for Tigerstar's vicious dog pack. While he still resents Firestar to some degree, he realizes his Clan's safety is far more important and warns him of Tigerstar's dark schemes from across the border as well as Darkstripe's misplaced loyalty during Rising Storm and A Dangerous Path. Longtail eventually fights alongside Firestar against Darkstripe and BloodClan during the events of The Darkest Hour, having finally found his true place within the Clan as well as Firestar's respect.

Almost ironically, Longtail is blinded shortly thereafter by a rabbit's claws (told in Firestar's Quest). He remains in the Clan as an elder throughout The New Prophecy and Power of Three series, despite being only slightly older than Firestar. He was mentored by Darkstripe and he has mentored Swiftpaw, Ferncloud and Sootfur (before Longtail was blinded.)

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Dustpelt

Dustpelt

Dustpelt, a dark brown tabby with amber eyes, is a ThunderClan warrior introduced in Into the Wild as an apprentice. He is approximately three moons older than Firestar, and had recently been made an apprentice when Firestar initially joins the clan. He and Sandstorm (then Dustpaw and Sandpaw) had often bullied Firepaw, however, this becomes less important as the story progresses. Dustpelt favors Sandstorm, but their relationship is strained when Sandstorm begins to fall in love with Firestar and he feels rejected. Later, he becomes Ferncloud's mate. Originally an ally and strong supporter of Tigerstar, Dustpelt was horrified to discover that Tigerstar killed his mentor, Redtail, and publicly rejected him in front of the Clan when Tigerstar was exiled Though usually depicted as a grudging ally of Firestar throughout all three series, Dustpelt's loyalty to his Clan (and therefore, its kittypet leader) is of absolute importance to him and he is a highly valued warrior as a result. Dustpelt is a skilled fighter, and is present in most attack parties described in the series. He is also a warm and dedicated father, having experienced the deaths of three of his kits, and makes sure to maintain a strong presence in both his kit's lives and that of his mate, Ferncloud. He is happy with his choice. Dustpelt's kits, both living and dead, include Hollykit, Larchkit, Foxpaw, Icepaw, Shrewpaw, Birchfall, and Spiderleg. His grandchildren, Toadkit and Rosekit, have been fathered by Spiderleg and his mate Daisy. Through the course of the series Dustpelt has mentored Ashfur, Squirrelflight, and Hazeltail.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Darkstripe

Darkstripe

Darkstripe, a sleek black and gray tabby tom, is a warrior in ThunderClan during the entirety of the Original series. He is a rude, nasty, impolite, and unpleasant cat who maintains a highly negative opinion of Firestar throughout the series. He is a close friend and supporter of Tigerstar, and as such is fiercely loyal to Tigerstar's ambitions despite their implications. Darkstripe routinely voices his negative opinions at Clan meetings, refusing to trust Firestar due to his kittypet origins and mocking any cat who thinks otherwise.

When Tigerclaw is exiled from ThunderClan in Forest of Secrets, Darkstripe voices his disappointment that Tigerstar didn't include him in his plan to kill Bluestar. It is interesting to note that he did not appear to have a problem with Tigerstar's plan itself, but rather that he wasn't allowed to be a part of it. Darkstripe's lonely path of a devoted follower continues to reduce his popularity in the clan, and in A Dangerous Path he begins secretly plotting with Tigerstar across the border in order to bring the dogs upon the camp and save only his children, Bramblekit and Tawnykit, from the ensuing chaos. After this fails, he attempts to kill Sorrelkit with deathberries when she discovers his meetings with Blackfoot, Tigerstar's deputy, and he is exiled from the Clan. Darkstripe immediately runs to Tigerstar's side and eventually kills one of Bluestar's children; Stonefur, but when Tigerstar is killed by Scourge, Darkstripe is left completely alone. His resulting madness culminates in the battle with BloodClan during The Darkest Hour, when he forsakes all loyalty to any Clan and desperately attempts to kill Firestar himself. He is killed, finally, by Graystripe.

Darkstripe has mentored Longtail, Dustpelt, and Ferncloud, although his mentorship of Ferncloud was revoked when he was exiled from the Clan. His other relationships are unknown, and it can be implied from his personality that hardly any cat liked him very much. He is shown during the later half of The New Prophecy series to be walking the same place as Tigerstar and eventually Hawkfrost, known as The Dark Forest.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Cloudtail

Cloudtail

Cloudtail, a long-furred white tom with round blue eyes, is a ThunderClan warrior introduced in Fire and Ice. He is the son of Princess, Firestar's kittypet sister, and an unknown tom, most likely a kittypet, and is thus Firestar's nephew. Upon learning that her kits are to be given away by her Twoleg owners, Princess gives Cloudtail, her eldest, to Firestar as a kit because she wanted him to be a hero, like Firestar is. Initially Cloudkit is rejected by many members of ThunderClan, including Bluestar herself, because of the Clan's reluctance to admit yet another kittypet into its ranks.

Cloudtail grows up as an arrogant, loudmouthed apprentice who often refuses to listen to his mentor, Firestar. He is quite slow to understand the warrior code and often takes selfish actions that benefit himself and not the Clan. His loyalty to the Clan is finally established when, after sneaking off to solicit food from Twolegs, he is captured and taken to a suburb on the other side of WindClan near Barley's farm. Firestar and Sandstorm rescue him with Ravenpaw's help. This event serves to firmly cement Cloudtail's place in the Clan, and he behaves in a much more mature manner towards his Clan thereafter.

Extras!

Despite becoming a loyal warrior, Cloudtail has retained much of his attitude and is one of the more aggressive cats in the Clan; he is consistently known for his sharp tongue and is often one of the first cats to jump at the prospect of a fight. Cloudtail does not believe in StarClan, making him one of two cats in the series to do so (the other being Mothwing). He does show a significantly softer side when dealing with his mate, Brightheart, however. Cloudtail is primarily responsible for training Brightheart to be able to fight effectively despite her injuries. His personality taken aside, Cloudtail is friendly to most cats (provided they are not from another Clan). He is one of the best climbers and has the best tracking ability in the Clan.

Cloudtail has one daughter, Whitewing. Being Firestar's nephew, he also shares kinship with all of Firestar's direct line, including Leafpool, Squirrelflight, Jaypaw, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze. During the second half of The New Prophecy series he shows a brief interest in Daisy, a horseplace cat, though his interest in her is not because of any feelings of his own; he mentors her because of his defensiveness of his kittypet roots. He is unaware of the fact that Daisy is in love with him, but once he realizes he is hurting Brightheart, he resolves to stop spending time with Daisy. Cloudtail has mentored Rainwhisker and Cinderheart.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Cinderpelt

Cinderpelt

Cinderpelt, a fluffy gray she-cat with blue eyes, is ThunderClan's medicine cat for a large part of the Original and The New Prophecy series. Originally she trains to be a warrior as an apprentice under Fireheart's mentoring, but she is critically injured by a monster (car) when she stumbles into a trap laid supposedly by Tigerstar. Soon after she begins training as a medicine cat apprentice under Yellowfang. Cinderpelt is one of Firestar's closest friends throughout the series, and remains his trusted advisor whenever he needs spiritual guidance. Initially overexcited and bouncy, she often overwhelms Firestar as an apprentice and frequently dashes off on her own. After she begins training as a medicine cat, her personality greatly matures and she appears to possess the wisdom of a much older cat. She was in love with Firestar, though Firestar himself never realizes this and Cinderpelt never tells him. Though she always wanted to be a warrior, she accepts her new destiny and dedicates her life to becoming a legendary medicine cat. She is killed in Twilight of The New Prophecy series while defending Sorreltail in the nursery while she is saving her kits from a marauding badger. StarClan had originally destined Cinderpelt to be a warrior, but they did not plan on her being caught in Tigerstar's trap on the Thunderpath.

Extras!

As a test of her loyalty, StarClan told Cinderpelt of her impending death before it happened, a secret which Cinderpelt kept hidden even when her apprentice, Leafpool, pledged to leave the Clan. As a reward, Cinderpelt was reincarnated after her death into Cinderheart in the Power of Three series. Cinderheart herself is not aware of this consciously, however she unknowingly exhibits behaviors and insights similar to that of the old medicine cat. The implications of this "second life", as well as Cinderpelt's true destiny, have yet to be realized. Cinderpelt was mentored by Yellowfang, and mentored Leafpool as her successor. Her mother is Frostfur, which makes Thornclaw and Brightheart her siblings. Her brother, Brackenfur, is the father of Cinderheart, a situation which is slightly confusing given Cinderpelt's reincarnation. This would imply, then, that Cinderpelt's brother is now her father, though the new Cinderheart is still very much an individual cat in her own right. Though she is dead her spirit lives on in the hearts of the Clan, especially Leafpool's.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Brightheart

Brightheart, a white she-cat with ginger patches, is a ThunderClan warrior introduced in Forest of Secrets. Brightheart was an apprentice (Brightpaw) for an unusually long period, along with her fellow apprentices Cloudpaw, Thornpaw, and Swiftpaw due to Bluestar's refusal to trust her warriors following Tigerstar's exile. Brightpaw develops a strong friendship with Cloudpaw, and is the first to congratulate him during his promotion (received due just to being Fireheart's apprentice) despite the other apprentices feeling jealous and angry. She eventually joins an expedition led by Swiftpaw into the lair of the dog pack during A Dangerous Path in an attempt to prove herself a warrior, which results in her being seriously injured as well as Swiftpaw's death.

Extras!
Half of Brightheart's face is disfigured due to her injuries, including a missing eye and a scarred ear. These features cause Bluestar to give her the warrior name of Lostface, which Firestar soon changes when he becomes leader. Though initially discouraged by her injuries, Brightheart is soon able to develop, with the help of Cloudtail, a system of fighting that makes use of her one-sided vision, making her as effective at fighting as any other warrior. When not in battle, Brightheart is a kind and warmhearted friend to many warriors in the Clan. She adopts the duties of an unofficial medicine cat during the later half of The New Prophecy series, becoming an object of Leafpool's jealousy, but quickly returns to being a warrior after Leafpool becomes ThunderClan's main medicine cat. In Twilight of the "The New Prophecy" series, Brightheart holds a grudge for Daisy, who often flirts and spends time with her mate, Cloudtail. However, after Squirrelflight points out how Cloudtail is hurting Brightheart (as he never loved Daisy, but is acting like he does), he asks for Brightheart's forgiveness and by Power of Three, their relationship is as strong as ever.

Brightheart was apprenticed by Whitestorm and has since taken Jaypaw as an apprentice, although this was only temporary due to Jaypaw later taking the role of medicine cat. She appears to have been hurt by this, likely due to her being desperate to prove to herself and the Clan that she can still function as well as a normal warrior. Despite Jaypaw's prickly attitude towards her during his apprenticeship, he is able to sense her feelings and is sympathetically warmer towards her upon becoming a medicine cat. Her mother is Frostfur, which makes her the sister of Thornclaw, Cinderpelt, and Brackenfur (though the latter two were from an earlier litter). She and her mate, Cloudtail, have one daughter, Whitewing.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Ravenpaw

Ravenpaw

Ravenpaw, a sleek black tom, is a current loner, introduced as a ThunderClan apprentice in Into the Wild. After Firestar's introduction to the forest, he trains along with Graystripe and Ravenpaw and the three become good friends. Ravenpaw is nervous and shy around his Clanmates, largely due to the fact that his mentor, Tigerstar, treats him harshly and often belittles him in front of the other warriors. Part of this is due to the fact that Ravenpaw witnessed Tigerstar murdering Redtail, the former ThunderClan deputy. Eventually Tigerstar decides that Ravenpaw's storytelling abilities are too dangerous, and plots to have him killed to preserve his secret. Firepaw discovers this, and along with Graypaw escorts Ravenpaw across the WindClan border to shelter in Barley's barn, while telling the rest of the Clan that he is dead. Following his exodus, Ravenpaw seems to greatly enjoy his new life with Barley. He loses his old nervousness and becomes much more confident and outgoing, while retaining a loyal debt of gratitude towards his former Clanmates. His situation reflects an interesting motif present throughout the series: while some outsiders such as kittypets appear to have been born to live in a Clan, there are also Clan-born cats whose destinies lie elsewhere. Ravenpaw returns at various times throughout the series to lend assistance or shelter to cats traveling across his territory, most notably helping to comfort the entirety of the forest Clans during their relocation in Dawn of The New Prophecy series. Ravenpaw also assists Firestar and Graystripe in retrieving Graystripe's kits from RiverClan during Tigerstar's cruel leadership of the Clan in The Darkest Hour. He then returns to the Clan along with Barley to fight alongside ThunderClan and WindClan in the battle with BloodClan. While sheltering the forest cats in Dawn, Firestar asks Ravenpaw to rejoin ThunderClan and travel with them to the lake. Ravenpaw rejects, stating that he is happier being a rogue than he ever would be in a Clan.

In the manga series depicting Graystripe's journey back to the forest Clans, he and Barley help him and Millie over the Moonstone, leading them toward the Clan's new lake home.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Brackenfur

Brackenfur

Brackenfur, a golden brown tabby tom, is a ThunderClan warrior first introduced in Fire and Ice. He is the brother of Cinderpelt, and together they train as apprentices under Firestar and Graystripe. Firestar often took over his training when Graystripe left the camp to meet with Silverstream even though meeting with cats outside one's own Clan is against the warrior code. Upon becoming a warrior, Brackenfur becomes a regular favorite choice for patrols and battles and remains quite popular in the Clan during the Original and subsequent series.

Brackenfur is quiet, reserved and thoughtful, a trait which easily differentiates him from his overenthusiastic sister, prior to her becoming a medicine cat. He is never too quick to make a decision and is often given a great amount of trust by other cats regarding certain plans. He was even considered by Firestar to be ThunderClan's deputy in the book Sunset from The New Prophecy, but was not chosen due to a sign from StarClan that chose Brambleclaw instead. As Brackenfur has never been involved in a morally flawed situation, he could be considered something of a "perfect character" similar to Firestar. He is greatly respected and liked throughout the Clan, and additionally is an excellent fighter, which allows him to be present in most battles throughout the series.

In the New Prophecy series, Brackenfur takes Sorreltail as a mate, and has four kits with her: Molepaw, Poppyfrost, Honeyfern, and Cinderheart, later revealed to be the reincarnation of Cinderpelt, his sister. This obviously confuses certain family relationships, but the significance of this event has not been touched upon thus far. Brackenfur has no apprentice currently but he has mentored Tawnypelt (before she left Thunderclan), Whitewing, and Hollyleaf.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Graystripe

Graystripe

Graystripe, a solid long-haired gray tom with amber eyes and a dark stripe along his back, is Firestar's first and best friend in ThunderClan. He meets Firestar, known as Rusty at the time, in the forest close to Rusty's kittypet home and proceeds to attack him as if he were any other intruder. When Rusty joins ThunderClan as Firepaw, the two become great friends and often train and eat together. Graystripe's mentor was Lionheart, who was killed in Into the Wild. He become a warrior soon after the battle with ShadowClan to rescue ThunderClan kits with Firestar at the end of Into the Wild. Since then he has been a mentor to Brackenfur.

Shortly after being promoted to a full warrior, Graystripe falls in love with a RiverClan she-cat, Silverstream after she saves him from drowning, and starts to sneak out of camp to meet her which is against the warrior code. His friendship with Fireheart is strained due to Fireheart's need to cover for him while he is away, and for a short time the two quarrel with each other. Eventually Graystripe is able to settle his issues with Fireheart, and their friendship continues. In the end of the original series, he becomes ThunderClan's deputy, due to Whitestorm's death, but is replaced by Brambleclaw when he was captured in Dawn.

Extras!
Graystripe is a friendly, hearty character. He often makes quips or jokes in order to provide relief to a tense situation, but is able to focus himself during battles and concentrate on the objective at hand. Graystripe often fights among the hardest of any cats during a battle, and is able to use his large weight to a great advantage. He usually returns from a battle with several wounds, having fought beyond the normal threshold of an ordinary cat and refusing to run. He does not have any qualms about killing hated enemies of the Clan, and is responsible for the deaths of Clawface and Darkstripe, among others.

Graystripe has lived in more locations than any other cat in the series. When Silverstream died bearing his kits, Graystripe went to live with them in RiverClan for a while. He returned to ThunderClan in A Dangerous Path. In Dawn of The New Prophecy series, Graystripe was captured by humans, or "Twolegs" and lived as a kittypet for a time, which is described in further detail in The Lost Warrior manga series. While living as a kittypet, Graystripe met Millie, another kittypet, who helped him escape. After a long journey, the two finally returned to the Clans living at the lake. He returned to ThunderClan in The Sight of the Power of Three series, along with Millie as his new mate.

He had two children with Silverstream, Feathertail and Stormfur. He mentored Stormfur for a while when his kits, along with Mistyfoot, fled to ThunderClan temporarily to escape Tigerstar's rule in RiverClan. Both are prominent characters in The New Prophecy series, while Stormfur maintains a minor role in the Power of Three series. Feathertail was killed in Moonrise. His mate, Millie, gave birth to three kits of her own, Briarkit, Bumblekit, and Blossomkit in Eclipse. Since it has been revealed that Spottedleaf is of SkyClan descent, that makes Graystripe of SkyClan descent as well. Spottedleaf is the sister of Graystripe's mother Willowpelt, making Spottedleaf his aunt. Therefore, he is, by blood, related to Tigerstar, as well as Brambleclaw, Tawnypelt, Hawkfrost and Mothwing.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Firestar

Firestar

Firestar, a handsome ginger tom with a flame-colored pelt and bright green eyes, is the main protagonist of the Original series. Initially a house cat named Rusty, he often dreamed of hunting for his own prey in the forest beyond his owner's house. Rusty joins ThunderClan after encountering Bluestar, ThunderClan's leader, and is initially established as an apprentice, being renamed Firepaw after his "flame-colored pelt." Throughout the series, Firepaw gains respect within the Clan and eventually receives his warrior name, Fireheart. In Forest of Secrets, he becomes deputy, and finally, becomes ThunderClan's leader in The Darkest Hour. Firestar was mentored by Bluestar (and, for a short time, Lionheart and Tigerclaw), and has mentored three apprentices himself: Cinderpelt, who later becomes a medicine cat apprentice to Yellowfang due to her 'accident' on the Thunderpath (which in fact, was set up by Tigerstar) that permanently injures her leg; Cloudtail; and Brambleclaw. Cloudtail is the son of his kittypet sister, Princess. Firestar met Princess when she was heavily pregnant in Fire and Ice. When her kits were born, she let Firestar take Cloudkit, her firstborn, with him to ThunderClan, where Bluestar named him Cloudkit.

Firestar is typically known as a perfect character in the series, though he is sure he is far from perfect. He does not possess any significant character flaws and is fully committed to the warrior code. Firestar is fiercely loyal not only to his Clan, but also to his many friends and allies that he meets along the way, regardless of their affiliation. He respects the rules of his superiors, but also has the insight to look beyond them in order to properly judge a questionable situation. As a result, he often breaks the traditional rules of the Clan (a trend started by his very inclusion into the Clan, being of house cat, or "kittypet" origins) in order to help his friends or to rectify a situation he believes to be right. He protected his friend, Graystripe, from suspicion from the other cats when Graystripe snuck out to meet with Silverstream. When Bluestar declared war on WindClan for allegedly stealing prey, Firestar snuck out of camp and secretly negotiated a meeting of peace with WindClan's leader, Tallstar. Firestar also refrained from killing Silverstream during a fight with RiverClan because he did not want to hurt Graystripe's mate. Firestar is primarily responsible, along with his friend Graystripe, for several feats that have ensured the well-being of all the Clans, such as retrieving WindClan after they were driven out of their camp, and hunting prey for RiverClan when they were trapped in a flood. He led all four Clans against the ranks of BloodClan as LionClan in The Darkest Hour and killed their leader, Scourge, thus effectively saving the entire forest.

Firestar maintains a minor presence in subsequent series, The New Prophecy and Power of Three, as the ever-present leader of ThunderClan. Additionally, in between the Original series and The New Prophecy, he travels north with his mate, Sandstorm, in order to reunite the lost and scattered descendants of SkyClan in Firestar's Quest. As of Long Shadows, Firestar has four lives left. The first of his nine lives was lost in the battle with BloodClan, the second life was lost in Firestar's Quest when he battled the rats (though Firestar's Quest states he had only six lives prior to the rat battle), and the third life was lost when the tree fell on him saving ShadowClan from the humans ("Twolegs"). He lost the fourth when he was caught in the foxtrap and the fifth due to greencough.

He has two daughters with his mate, Sandstorm: Leafpool, who is a medicine cat, and Squirrelflight, who is a warrior. Both have leading roles in The New Prophecy series and side parts in the Power of Three series.

Warriors: Cats of the Clans: Bluestar

Bluestar

Bluestar, a blue-gray she-cat with blue eyes and a silver-tinged muzzle, is the leader of ThunderClan during most of the Original series. She is responsible for bringing Firestar into ThunderClan, a decision prompted by the alarmingly low number of warriors in her Clan, and the prophecy "fire alone can save our Clan". Bluestar serves as Firestar's mentor during his apprenticeship after a while when Firestar is mentored by the senior warriors and eventually appoints him as her deputy after Tigerstar's exile. She is known as a strong, calm leader who rules over her Clan with a firm but fair paw.

Extras!
Bluestar fell in love with Oakheart, a RiverClan warrior, during her days as a warrior (when she was named Bluefur, as seen in The Rise of Scourge) and bore three kits. Out of her concern to the Clan, she became Clan deputy, but since she knew the Clan would never accept a queen nursing kits for a deputy, she secretly gave her kits to Oakheart to be raised in RiverClan. Only Mistykit and Stonekit made it to RiverClan however; Mosskit did not survive the journey. Bluestar is able to suppress her feelings regarding her decision until Firestar, seeking to uncover the truth about Tigerstar's deception, causes the issue to be reopened. Her feelings of regret, combined with the shock of discovering her trusted deputy's plan to kill her, cause Bluestar to sink into a manic depression. She remains in this condition throughout the events of Rising Storm and A Dangerous Path, which worsens when the forest fire destroys the ThunderClan camp. She refuses to trust any of her warriors except Fireheart, and declares war on StarClan for dooming her Clan. Her faith is restored in the final moments of A Dangerous Path, when in a dramatic scene she jumps onto the leader of a pack of dogs, causing them to fall over the cliff and into the river. She dies shortly afterward, confiding in Fireheart that he truly was the "fire" that saved the Clan.

Bluestar retains an authoritative role in StarClan during the events of The New Prophecy and Power of Three series. She chooses Brambleclaw as ThunderClan's representative to make the journey to the sun-drown-place (the sea) in Midnight.

She has two children, Mistyfoot and Stonefur, in RiverClan, and is mentioned in Cats of the Clans as having a third, Mosskit, who died young while making the journey to RiverClan with his littermates. Currently Mistyfoot is the deputy of RiverClan, while Stonefur was killed in The Darkest Hour by the will of Tigerstar. Bluestar was mentored by Stonepelt, who is dead by the time of the Original series. After Lionheart's death, she mentors Firestar after a time (see above). She has also mentored Runningwind and Frostfur. Her mother was Moonflower (as said in Secrets of the Clans, Bluepaw Speaks: My First Sight of Fourtrees), and her father was Stormtail. She had a sister named Snowfur. Whitestorm is Snowfur's son, thus making him Bluestar's nephew.

Warriors Book: "Power of Three: Long Shadows"

Long Shadows is the fifth book in Erin Hunter's Warriors: Power of Three, and was widely released November 25, 2008. The book follows the adventures of Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jaypaw (later Jayfeather). Hollyleaf's power is hinted to be related to the warrior code, but in the end, the doubt of them being the 'power of three' arises.

Plot Summary

Blackstar lets Sol lead ShadowClan, having given up on their Warrior ancestors. Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jaypaw go to spy, hiding in a tree and watching Littlecloud object to turning away from StarClan and be banned from visiting the Moonpool. They go back to camp troubled. Tawnypelt and her kits Flamepaw, Tigerpaw, and Dawnpaw are found coming back with a patrol later and it turns out they didn't want to be in ShadowClan if it meant that they couldn't believe in StarClan. Greencough breaks out and Millie and Briarkit (one of Millie's kits who were born the previous book) are the first victims, but it eventually strikes the majority of the Clan, even claiming one of Firestar's lives. Graystripe and the healthy kits, whom Daisy is feeding, are worried about Millie.

While visiting the Moonpool, Raggedstar and Runningnose beg Jaypaw to help ShadowClan in any way. He comes up with the idea to create a fake sign from StarClan. He talks to Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, and Tawnypelt's kits and they all agree to pitch in and help create fake a sign from StarClan to get ShadowClan to get rid of Sol. Tigerpaw lures Littlecloud and Blackstar to the brink of ShadowClan territory while the others knock down three pine trees. Tigerpaw pretends to have been killed by one, and every cat there is surprised when Raggedstar and Runningnose come down, telling Blackstar and Littlecloud that Tigerpaw is safe but they must restore faith to StarClan. They agree and drive Sol out of the Clan. Tawnypelt, Tigerpaw, Flamepaw, and Dawnpaw return to ShadowClan. Hollyleaf still has a feeling that they have yet to see the last of Sol.

Greencough continues to spread through the Clan. Firestar comes up with the idea to temporarily shelter the sick cats in the abandoned Twoleg nest, but soon loses a life. The Clan is dangerously short of catmint, but Jaypaw knows that there is a fresh supply in WindClan territory. He wanders in his dreams through the underground tunnels and finds Fallen Leaves. He ventures back to the time of Fallen Leaves' tribe as a young Sharpclaw called Jay's Wing. When he mentions the Clans and the herb horsetail, they think of him as crazy but he soon fits in and starts them on the journey to the mountains to become the Tribe of Rushing Water as he finds out. Right after they leave Rock tells him that he has done every thing he can. Jaypaw asks if the real Jay's Wing will be back now, but Rock says he disappeared at this time. Jaypaw is disappointed to leave Half Moon, a pretty she-cat who falls in love with him. When he returns to the Clans, he asks Lionblaze to fetch the catmint. Lionblaze refuses, but as the greencough gets worse, he finally goes. He meets Heatherpaw, the exact thing that he wished would not happen, who saw him stealing. She says she is now Heathertail. Lionblaze is worried that his murderous dreams will come true and he'll kill her against his control.

Extras!

When Lionblaze brings the catmint, everyone is healed and returns to the camp. Jaypaw and Leafpool go to the Moonpool and he receives the name of Jayfeather and the rank of a full medicine cat. Afterward, life is almost back to normal.

Then, during a storm, the camp catches fire. Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, and Squirrelflight are trapped, but Squirrelflight makes it through the flames and drags a stick through in an attempt to save the kits, but needs some assistance. Ashfur heroically leaps in and drags it all the way through. Just as Lionblaze leaps on, though, Ashfur blocks the way. Squirrelflight begs him to let them through but he tells her that he never forgave her after she left him for Brambleclaw and reveals he was the one who helped Hawkfrost set the trap for Firestar, to show her the pain of losing a loved one as he had faced. He said that he will now kill Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather in another attempt to hurt her. Squirrelflight dryly says that he cannot hurt her that way because they are not her kits. She explains how she kept the secret from Brambleclaw and the whole of ThunderClan. Ashfur lets them live, but he threatens to tell her secret, and she is shocked that Ashfur would betray her like this. Hollyleaf and Lionblaze refuse to speak to her even when she says that she couldn't have loved kits of her own more, yet she refrains from telling them who their parents are, and they begin to doubt whether they really are the Three the prophecy speaks of.

The fire fades away and all the cats get the camp set up. Three days before the Gathering, Ashfur asks Firestar if he can go. Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Squirrelflight are worried that he is doing it to publicly announce Squirrelflight's secret. Between then and the day of the Gathering, the three warn Ashfur that he will regret it if he reveals the secret. Although he is frightened, he refuses to listen to them. Right before the Gathering, the patrol of warriors going notices that both Ashfur and Squirrelflight are missing. Squirrelflight later shows up, wet and muddy, and explains that she was looking for herbs for Leafpool by the border neighboring ShadowClan and fell into the stream. They leave without Ashfur. On the way to the Gathering, they see Ashfur's body lying in the WindClan stream as if he had drowned. They take him back to camp and set him for vigil. Leafpool notices a slit in his neck, suggesting he was murdered. After the Gathering, Firestar announces that Ashfur's death was unknown and suspects a cat from ThunderClan may have been the murderer, but Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze see Squirrelflight looking scared and holding her breath. There has been speculation that Squirrelflight may have killed Ashfur, but it is currently unknown if this is true.

Warriors Book: "Power of Three: Eclipse"

Eclipse is the fourth book in Erin Hunter's Warriors: Power of Three, and was widely released on September second. [1] It is the fourth book in what is to be the third six-book series of Warriors [2]. Like the three previous books in the series, it centers on the grandchildren of the ThunderClan leader Firestar, Jaypaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw, who have been blessed with extraordinary powers. Mostly, the book centers on the three coming to terms with their powers, and the prophecy that predicts they will someday be more powerful than StarClan.

Plot Summary

The plot begins as the three apprentices are trekking back from their journey to the mountains, which they started in the previous book, Outcast, with the warriors Brook, Stormfur, Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, Tawnypelt, Breezepaw, and Crowfeather. However, once back, tenseness grips the four clans. WindClan becomes proud, constantly trespassing onto ThunderClan territory to steal prey. Meanwhile, a mysterious loner, called Sol, has been wandering the clans territories. He, not StarClan, comes to ThunderClan and warns Jaypaw about the eclipse that will come. ThunderClan refuses to listen to him.

Firestar finally sends a patrol to talk to Onestar as the theft of prey hasn't stopped. WindClan warriors refuse their request, one even attacking Brambleclaw. Soon, the attack everyone suspects comes in the form of a late-night ambush. Lionpaw is the first cat to notice, when he gets up in the middle of the night and notices WindClan warriors stalking into the camp, ready to surprise-attack. Despite the advantage of surprise, WindClan is beaten back and is believed to have surrendered until Brambleclaw, the ThunderClan deputy, takes Lionpaw and a few warriors to check if WindClan has retreated into their territory. When they investigate, they realize WindClan split into three groups on ThunderClan territory, each one ready to ambush ThunderClan patrols and hunting parties in a different place. Quickly, Firestar divides his clan into three groups as well, sending each one out to discover and attack a group of WindClan warriors.

A huge and bloody battle then starts, with no clear winner for hours. RiverClan sends in patrols to help WindClan, while ShadowClan sends warriors to ThunderClan's aid. This is very worrying to Firestar, who says it is very bad that all four clans are fighting. [3] However, in the middle of the battle, there is an eclipse of the sun, just as Sol had warned. Many warriors are afraid, and take it as a sign from StarClan that the battle needs to cease. Squirrelflight is badly injured and nearly dies. However, the medicine cats worry about why their warrior ancestors didn't warn them about the sun or the battle before they happened. This leads to some beginning to doubt their faith in StarClan.

Extras!
Meanwhile, the three young apprentices learn more and more about their powers throughout the novel. Jaypaw begins to see memories and thoughts inside other cats heads, even when they are trying to conceal them. He listens in on another cat's dream with StarClan, as well, as he has done in the previous books. During a visit to the Moonpool, he overhears the ShadowClan medicine cat talking to a warrior ancestor about Blackstar, his leader and one of the cats losing faith in StarClan. Lionpaw's power has also gotten more intense, and he fights in the WindClan battle extremely well without getting hurt. However, Lionpaw also learns about the bad side of his power. When he learns that WindClan have invaded using the tunnels he and Heatherpaw, a WindClan apprentice, employed to secretly see each other in a previous book, he goes crazy with bloodlust, almost killing her and Crowfeather, who happened to be nearby. He doesn't believe her when she claims it was Sedgekit, not her, who told the secret to the rest of WindClan. It scares him that he can't control his temper.

Jaypaw suspects Sol, the rogue who warned the Clans of the eclipse, may have knowledge about the three cat's mystical powers, and seeks him out to talk to him. He tells them that he knows about the prophecy, and that someday the three cats will be so powerful that the clans will turn to them for guidance instead of StarClan. He adds that when this occurs, they will have the power to keep the warrior code-or destroy it. Sol then journeys to ShadowClan to meet with their leader, Blackstar. Upon hearing that Sol predicted the eclipse, he begins to think that perhaps StarClan is not as important or powerful as Sol and other living cats with mystical powers. He decides to stop living by the rules StarClan has made for the clans, such as the importance of attending gatherings every full moon. Finally, he decides to leave the lake, implying that his faith in StarClan was the only thing making him stay and suffer through the hard times in their forest. Lionpaw, Jaypaw and Hollypaw believe that they need to persuade Blackstar to come back, and that there need to be four clans in the forest. In this book, Blackstar does not act with fierce loyalty to his clan like in previous books, but falls into deep depression, and doesn't seem to care what his clan does.

At the end of Eclipse, Hollypaw and Lionpaw receive their warrior names, Hollyleaf and Lionblaze. Cinderpaw also becomes Cinderheart with them, since she was forced to become a warrior later than her siblings due to an injury. Firestar praises Hollyleaf for her thoughtfulness and intelligence, Lionblaze for his courage and skill at fighting, and Cinderheart for her determination and loyalty.

Warriors Book: "Power of Three: Outcast"

Outcast is the third book in Erin Hunter's Warriors: Power of Three fantasy novel series. HarperCollins published it on April 22, 2008. The plot follows Jaypaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw on their quest to the mountains and the Tribe.

Plot summary

In Outcast, Hollypaw, Lionpaw, and Jaypaw resume their daily lives after the events of Dark River. Jaypaw becomes obsessed with learning about the cats who had lived by the lake before the Clans while Lionpaw continues training with Tigerstar. Hollypaw realizes she wants to become leader of her Clan one day. Each finds the aspect of traveling to the mountains intriguing, and when Talon of Swooping Eagle (Talon) and Night of No Stars (Night) from the Tribe of Rushing Water come to ThunderClan to ask Stormfur and Brook to come back, they get their chance.

Extras!
Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, Tawnypelt, Crowfeather, Stormfur, Brook, Breezepaw, Jaypaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw all journey to the mountains where the Tribe was being terrorized by intruders. Stormfur was from RiverClan before the Great Journey, but then joined the Tribe of Rushing Water. Brook originally came from the mountains as well, but her and Stormfur were banished when too many cats were injured or died because of Stormfur's idea to fight the intruders. The Tribe cats were not well-versed in fighting, only attacking hawks. Once there, the mixed-Clan group start teaching every Tribe cat how to fight like the Clan cats. The Tribe is reluctant to give up their traditions, but they manage to drive out the invaders, mostly thanks to Lionpaw. Meanwhile, Jaypaw continues to try to find out about the mysterious prophecy that has haunted him to no end: "There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the powers of the stars in their paws" from the ancient cats that refers to himself and his littermates. He learns that the Tribe originated from the lake and decides to tell his brother and sister about the prophecy at the end of Outcast.

Warriors Book: "Power of Three: Dark River"

Dark River is the second installment of the third series of Warriors, Warriors: The Power of Three by Erin Hunter. It continues the adventure of the ThunderClan cats, Jaypaw, Lionpaw and Hollypaw, which began in The Sight and continues in Outcast. It takes place in a fictional forest surrounding a lake, where the four Clans, ShadowClan, RiverClan, ThunderClan and WindClan, make up the protagonists.

Plot Summary:

In Dark River's prologue, it is revealed that there are hidden caves beneath the moorland. Fallen Leaves, a mysterious cat not seen before in any of the books, enters this cave, meeting an misshapen, old cat by the name of Rock, who explains to him that to be a sharpclaw (an equivalent to the Clans' warriors), he must find a way out of the tunnels and onto the moor. Unfortunately, when Rock asked if it would rain, Fallen Leaves said no, because he was afraid that Rock would make him wait until another day if he said yes. Fallen Leaves enters the tunnels and appears to be heading in the right direction.

Extras!
ThunderClan medicine cat apprentice Jaypaw finds a washed-up stick when he is out gathering herbs with his mentor, Leafpool. It has odd scratches on it; some that are crossed out and some that aren't. He doesn't know why, but the stick feels very important to him, to the point that he half drowns himself to save it from the depths of the lake. As he struggles to figure out what it means, he has a dream in which he experiences what Fallen Leaves experienced. Jaypaw then understands what the scratches mean and that the last uncrossed one was Fallen Leaves' mark. Cinderpaw then falls from the Sky Oak, breaking her back leg. He soon discovers that his mentor, Leafpool, is determined to save the apprentice's leg. As the medicine cat's determination begins to border on an obsession, he begins to wonder why. One night, he falls asleep and he wakes up in a strange forest. There he meets Cinderpaw, unhurt, who leads him to a camp filled with familiar smells. Cinderpaw describes how she once lived there before the Great Journey and asks Jaypaw to tell Leafpool that she is proud of her, and that she has learned far more than she could have ever taught her. By then Jaypaw is officially confused, but when looking into the Cinderpaw's eyes, he sees a series of flashbacks from her previous life. Jaypaw realizes that when Cinderpelt died she reincarnated as Cinderpaw, without Cinderpaw herself knowing it. Jaypaw tells Leafpool what he has discovered and his mentor agrees with him. However, when Cinderpaw wakes she doesn't remember the dream (only that Jaypaw had been able to see in it).

Lionpaw becomes best friends with Heatherpaw, a beautiful WindClan apprentice, and begins meeting her at night. Hollypaw discovers their secret and Lionpaw begins to be wary of his "nosy" sister. Afterwards, Heatherpaw and Lionpaw begin meeting in hidden tunnels that no Clan cat has ever seen before (the same tunnels that Fallen Leaves drowned in). They name their play Clan DarkClan, of which 'Heatherstar' is leader and 'Lionclaw' is deputy. They met together every night they can. Tigerstar, who meets Lionpaw in ghostly apparitions, like he did to Hawkfrost and Brambleclaw, starts teaching him additional battle moves that even his mentor, Ashfur, doesn't know, though Brambleclaw seems to recognize them. When Lionpaw starts to teach the moves to Heatherpaw, Hawkfrost scolds him for showing battle moves to the enemy, and under pressure, Lionpaw must choose between his love of Heatherpaw, and loyalty to the warrior code and ThunderClan. He chooses to remain loyal to his Clan and leaves Heatherpaw, who is extremely hurt and betrayed, though she understands his decision in the end.

During a gathering, RiverClan reveals that their Clan is facing a "gay problem" and that they are being forced to live on the Island for a short while. Though Leopardstar is fiercely protective of her Clan and refuses to elaborate, Hollypaw knows something is not right, because her friend Willowpaw and the rest of RiverClan are acting extremely nervous. She informs Firestar about her concerns. However, he does not believe this is ThunderClan's problem and refuses to take action. He and the rest of the Clan continue preparing for a battle against WindClan even though it is not certain that a battle will ever occur. Hollypaw heads out to RiverClan on her own. When she arrives, Willowpaw shows her how Twoleg kits (children) are attacking their camp. Hollypaw is kept with RiverClan so she cannot tell anyone about their secret. However, her brother Jaypaw has a dream that reveals her location, and Squirrelflight (the trio's mother) comes to retrieve her.

Near the end of the book, all three stories combine: Jaypaw and Leafpool must go to WindClan to take Onestar a message from Firestar about not shedding unnecessary blood in a battle over something that may never happen, when Hollypaw convinces Mousefur and Firestar to do something. When they arrive, Gorsetail's (a WindClan queen) kits (Sedgekit, Thistlekit and Swallowkit) are missing and WindClan blames RiverClan, saying that there will be a battle if RiverClan does not return the kits. Jaypaw and Leafpool return to camp and Lionpaw tells his brother and sister about the tunnels, where he thinks the kits may have went. They enter the caves, meeting up with the WindClan apprentices Breezepaw and Heatherpaw, who share their motive for being there. Jaypaw is guided by the spirit of Fallen Leaves and the group find the kits behind a boulder that blocked the tunnel. It starts raining and the tunnel floods, but Jaypaw figures a way out just in time and they return the kits, saving the Clans from an unnecessary battle. The tunnel is blocked during the flood, and Lionpaw states that it ended the most important friendship he ever had.

Warriors Book: "Power of Three: The Sight"

The Sight is the first installment of the Warriors: The Power of Three series by Erin Hunter was released April 24, 2007. This book was recommended as Children's Summer reading by the Washington Post Children's Book Club.

Plot summary

In The Sight, it is revealed that StarClan has sent Firestar a prophecy that he has kept secret for several seasons: There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in their paws. In the prologue, Firestar realizes that that the three kits of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are the three prophesized cats. Jaykit, one of the three kits, is blind. Early in the story, the three kits go on a fox hunt and must be saved. Jaykit is injured while Hollykit and Lionkit get a severe telling off from Firestar and their parents. During their punishment, Hollykit decides she wants to become a medicine cat. The three kits become apprentices and Jaypaw is trained as a warrior by scarred Brightheart (and is very disappointed by firestars choice of mentor), Lionpaw is mentored by Ashfur and Hollypaw is very pleased when Firestar chose Leafpool, Thunderclans medicine cat, as her mentor. Hollypaw finds that she has trouble with being a medicine cat. She can't stand the cats wincing in pain and all the bitter pus, but her heart soars when she gets to do some battle training.

Extras!
Hollypaw and Lionpaw get to go to the next Gathering, though Jaypaw stays home confined to camp as a punishment for going out alone and ending up WindClan territory. In the middle of the Gathering, Graystripe abrupty returns with a kittypet called Millie. Later, Jaypaw encounters Tigerstar and Hawkfrost in a dream. They tempt him with teaching him to fight, but Spottedleaf, a StarClan cat, retrieves him and tells him that he is to become a medicine cat. Jaypaw unwillingly accepts his destiny and trains as a medicine cat while Hollypaw takes the path of a warrior, finally realizing that was where her heart lay, with Brackenfur as her mentor.

Hostilities raise between the Clans over cats not born in the Clans. At the next Gathering, a Clan daylight Gathering, during which friendly competitions between the Clans occur, it is proposed by Squirrelflight to try and solve the problem. During this daylight Gathering, Jaypaw saves Lionpaw and a WindClan apprentice, Breezepaw, from being suffocated in a collapsed badger set. Concluding the novel, Jaypaw finally learns, through Firestar's dream, of StarClan's prophecy: There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in their paws.

Warriors Book: "The New Prophecy: Sunset"

The fight between Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight is over and Squirrelflight loves Brambleclaw again. Ashfur is jealous of the way his potential mate rejects him as Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight are mates now. Squirrelflight is hurt by the way Ashfur is hostile towards her but Brambleclaw cannot say anything to comfort her. The doubts between them were cured by the sign Leafpool received about Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight walking with their paws intertwined into the sky. After months of waiting, Brambleclaw manages to convince Firestar that it is time to appoint a new deputy, despite lack of evidence that the current deputy, Graystripe, is alive or dead, with the help of Sandstorm. StarClan sends Leafpool a dream to show that Brambleclaw is best fit to be deputy despite the fact that the young warrior has not had an apprentice yet. Brambleclaw visits Tigerstar and Hawkfrost, his half-brother, in his dreams for advice on how to become leader and for battle training.

During the plot of the story, several minor issues emerge. Fox traps are discovered and Berrykit gets stuck in one and loses the tip of his tail. Because of that, Daisy takes her kits back to her former home but is later convinced to come back. Other Clans try to take ThunderClan's and WindClan's territory. In addition, it seems that something has happened in the Tribe of Rushing Water (the mysterious tribe met by the cats who set out to complete a prophecy in Moonrise) because Stormfur and Brook have arrived from the Tribe and are unwilling to return to the Tribe, but refuse to explain why. Stormfur and Brook go back to RiverClan, but are quickly sent back to ThunderClan because of the cold and ambitious RiverClan warrior Hawkfrost.

Extras!
Leafpool grieves over the death of her dead mentor Cinderpelt. With her relationship with Crowfeather gone, she now replaces Cinderpelt as the medicine cat. StarClan reveals to her that a kit in the nursery, Cinderkit, is the reincarnation of Cinderpelt. They also tell her that she has a destiny unlike any medicine cat before her, and reveals the three stars that will be (unknown to her at the time) the three kits with the power of the stars in their paws.

The prophecy "Before there is peace, blood will spill blood and the lake will run red" is fulfilled when Hawkfrost manages to play a trick to tempt Firestar to the river, where the ThunderClan leader is caught within a fox trap. Brambleclaw is forced to choose between loyalty to his Clan and power. He chooses loyalty, and sets Firestar free. Hawkfrost lunges at him, but Brambleclaw manages to kill him in defense. As Hawkfrost dies, he tells Brambleclaw that there is a traitor who helped him in ThunderClan.

Warriors Book: "The New Prophecy: Twilight"

In the prologue of Twilight, an unknown cat receives a prophecy from StarClan, stating that "it cannot be true". During the book, Squirrelflight struggles with Brambleclaw's hostility toward her, and at the same time she and Ashfur grow much closer, and she wonders if she loves him as she had loved Brambleclaw. Squirrelflight begins to mistrust Brambleclaw for spending time with his half-brother, Hawkfrost. Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight are farther apart than ever, and are constantly bickering. Squirrelflight doesn't know that Brambleclaw is jealous of Ashfur and Squirrelflight's growing relationship until later during the book. During this time, Daisy and her three kits join ThunderClan after Daisy witnesses the Twolegs taking Floss's kits away. Her arrival causes jealousy between Brightheart and her mate Cloudtail, who spends much of his time with Daisy.

Meanwhile, Leafpool and Crowfeather begin secretly meeting each other. Cinderpelt finally confronts Leafpool when she is with Crowfeather. The two medicine cats fight and Leafpool decides to run away with Crowfeather. Deciding her heart is with Crowfeather, she leaves.

Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are even more hostile when Leafpool leaves until they go to WindClan after finding out that Crowfeather and Leafpool were meeting, thinking that Leafpool had gone to WindClan. Upon finding that Crowfeather had been missing too, Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, Ashfoot and Tornear follow the missing cats into the moorland where their scents led, but ultimately lost the trail. Squirrelflight states that she could not think of another cat she would rather accompany with her than Brambleclaw, and "presses her cheek on Brambleclaw's muzzle." The two have settled their friendship back into place, but not enough to be in love again.

Badgers are angry with the Clans (especially ThunderClan and RiverClan) because they keep chasing them out. Together, the badgers invade ThunderClan camp and the cats of ThunderClan are thrown into chaos as it becomes increasingly more apparent that they cannot defeat them. A badger kills Sootfur. Leafpool and Crowfeather come across Midnight on their journey. Midnight knows of The trouble that the badgers are doing and is off to warn the Clans (it is clear that she doesn't know when they are attacking). Leafpool and Crowfeather decide to return to ThunderClan to help. Meanwhile, Sorreltail is having her kits, with Brackenfur guarding the nursery, Brightheart tells Leafpool to get Cinderpelt. After Cinderpelt disappers into the nursery, Leafpool returns to fight alongside her Clan. Midnight brings the cats of WindClan into the camp to help fight the badgers. When Leafpool can finally get to Cinderpelt, she is horrified to find her mentor dying, attacked by a badger who broke into the nursery. Cinderpelt reveals to Leafpool that StarClan had already prophesied her death. The badgers are eventually driven out with the help of WindClan. Near the end of the novel, Squirrelflight states that she pushed aside that fact that she had been more worried about Brambleclaw than Ashfur. In the last paragraph, Stormfur and Brook come to visit from the Tribe of Rushing Water.

Warriors Book: "The New Prophecy: Starlight"

The Clans have finally found their new home by following the prophecies of their warrior ancestors. The journey was difficult and all the cats are weak, but now they must struggle to establish territories and learn the hidden dangers of this unfamiliar place. The cats have become accustomed to living with all four Clans and have made strong bonds, so it will be hard to fight against each other in the future. Most importantly, the ThunderClan medicine cat apprentice Leafpaw knows they must find a new Gathering place and a replacement for the Moonstone — a place to communicate with StarClan, the four Clans' warrior ancestors, otherwise there will be no way to choose new leaders, no way to share medicine cat secrets and no way to know whether the Clans are on the right path.

The future seems uncertain, and more than one cat is harboring sinister plans that could lead to violence and darkness. As all the warriors wait for a sign, some of them begin to realize that the threats they face from the forest may not be as perilous as the threats they face from within.

As ThunderClan settles in their new territory, some of the Clan cats struggle with their emotions. Brambleclaw is hurt by Squirrelpaw's hostility towards his slight obsession with his half-brother Hawkfrost; Squirrelpaw is troubled by Brambleclaw's closeness to his kin, and the two break up later, Squirrelflight (now a warrior) stating: "It's not going to work, is it? You and me? Because I can see just where I stand in your life. I'm not as important to you as other cats are. As Hawkfrost is." Leafpaw later begins to fall for Crowfeather. At the ThunderClan camp during the battle with Mudclaw and his rebel force, Crowfeather saves Leafpool from falling from the high wall of the ThunderClan camp and confesses his love for her, and she realizes that she too loves him. Tallstar, the frail WindClan leader, loses his last life at the lakeside and goes to join StarClan. As he is dying, Tallstar makes Onewhisker WindClan's new leader, saying that Mudclaw, the former deputy, is not the right cat to lead WindClan. Tallstar doesn't, however, use the proper ritual words for a deputy ceremony, and passes on after naming his successor. Firestar and Brambleclaw witness Tallstar's death and announce it with Onewhisker to the Clans.

Meanwhile, Leafpaw is sent on a journey from a dream from StarClan. Sorreltail tags along with Leafpaw and they find their replacement for the Moonstone. It is a pool of water which reflects the starlight. Sorreltail and Leafpaw return to ThunderClan to announce their discovery, and it becomes known as the Moonpool.

Mudclaw is furious at Onewhisker's sudden leadership and he eventually leads an attack against his new leader, but WindClan is not the only Clan turning against Onewhisker. Hawkfrost from RiverClan, Tigerstar's other son, was secretly gathering cats for Mudclaw's rebellion too.

In the end, a falling tree kills Mudclaw, creating a bridge to the island where the Clans now hold Gatherings.

Warriors Book: "The New Prophecy: Dawn"

Something terrifying is happening in the world of the Clans. Amid the destruction of the forest, cats are being taken away by Twolegs (humans), including ThunderClan's beloved medicine cat apprentice Leafpaw. Now the young cats who set off on a quest many moons ago have returned (all but Feathertail, killed by Sharptooth - a mountain lion) with a chilling message: the Clans must move to a new home, or risk extermination.

When Stormfur, Squirrelpaw, Tawnypelt, Crowpaw and Brambleclaw return to the forest they are horrified to find it half destroyed. Crowpaw and Tawnypelt return to their camps to relay the prophecy, and the other three cats head to the ThunderClan camp.

The trio find the camp deserted and split up to search for the Clan. Squirrelpaw checks out the medicine cat's den but is attacked by Cinderpelt, who had mistaken her for an enemy warrior, trying to steal her herbs.

Squirrelpaw begins to win quickly but stops once she sees who it is. Cinderpelt is surprised and overjoyed to see she has returned, along with the other cats. Squirrelpaw apologizes for attacking Cinderpelt and realizes how thin the medicine cat is. Cinderpelt tells the trio of how scarce prey is, and that they had to move camp two nights ago to escape the monsters (vehicles, bulldozers etc.). She sadly reports that Leafpaw has been captured by twolegs.

The Clan was found camping on the Sunningrocks, having been forced to leave their camp as the monsters came closer. They treat the returning cats with suspicion. Much of the prey had fled the forest, and the ThunderClan cats are thin and scrawny compared to the returning cats.

Nevertheless Firestar is over-joyed to see his daughter Squirrelpaw and former apprentice Brambleclaw again. Stormfur meets with his father Graystripe and sadly tells him that Feathertail is dead. Before returning to RiverClan, Stormfur helps tell Firestar and his senior warriors of the chilling prophecy.

However, it is not easy to convince the cats to leave. What they need is a sign from StarClan, but it seems that it will never come. Only a devastating attack on the ShadowClan camp will convince the other Clans to leave. The dying warrior from Midnight's prophecy is revealed to be a falling star which runs though the night sky and drops behind the mountains. They all travel though the mountains, guided by Brambleclaw, Squirrelpaw, Crowfeather (formerly Crowpaw), Tawnypelt and Stormfur.

Graystripe is taken by the Twolegs while rescuing Leafpaw and the other RiverClan and WindClan cats from Twolegs, as well as many loners and rogues. While trying to protect some kits, Firestar loses a life because he gets half-crushed by a falling tree as they try to evacuate ShadowClan from their camp when Twolegs begin to destroy it. Leafpaw also uncovers that Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw are in love.

Stormfur chooses to stay with the Tribe of Rushing Water with Brook Where Small Fish Swim (Brook) and Feathertail's spirit. When Squirrelpaw says to Brambleclaw that she will miss the gray tom, she thinks she sees a flicker of jealousy in his amber eyes. She assures him her heart lies with ThunderClan and confesses her love for Brambleclaw. He says "we must all follow our heart", which means he loves her too. At the end of the book, the Clans settle in a forest around a lake.

Frostfur, Speckletail, Shadepelt and Loudbelly choose to stay in the forest while the other cats leave because they are too old to make such a long journey.

Warriors Book: "The New Prophecy: Moonrise"

Moonrise is the second book in Erin Hunter's bestselling Warriors: The New Prophecy series. It was first published on August 1, 2005 as a hardcover byHarperCollins. Exactly one year later, the paperback edition was released. The book has been praised by Barnes and Noble and Booklist, although Kirkus Reviews was not as warm. The plot follows Brambleclaw, Squirrelpaw, Crowpaw, Feathertail, Stormfur and Tawnypelt on their quest through the mountains, their stay with the Tribe of Rushing Water, and the death of Sharptooth and Feathertail. The Tribe of Rushing Water was used to portray the theme of religious conflict.

Plot summary

Several moons (months) have passed since the six cats set out from the forest on an urgent journey to save all their Clans. Stormfur states that he liked Squirrelpaw, but that Brambleclaw was a better mate for her. Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw's relationship grows even further. The six cats are now traveling home. From fear of the dangers that they encountered in the first book, Midnight, they decide to travel through the mountains at the advice of the badger, Midnight. In the midst of the snowy mountains, the six cats stumble across a group of wild tribal cats who belong to the Tribe of Rushing Water.

The friendly Tribe takes the questing cats in to shelter and feed them. During their stay, Stormfur falls in love with Brook Where Small Fish Swim (Brook), a Tribe prey-hunter, while his sister Feathertail romances Crowpaw. However, the Tribe cats have their own prophecy to fulfill. They see Stormfur as their only hope, the silver cat mentioned in the prophecy of the Tribe of Endless Hunting, the Tribe cats' spiritual ancestors. Stormfur is forced to protect the Tribe from Sharptooth, a bloodthirsty mountain lion with a taste for the smaller cats' blood. Together, Stormfur and his friends help get rid of Sharptooth by anguishing him and leading him into a trap. However, as they duel the wild cat, it is revealed that Feathertail is the real silver cat. The Tribe cats thought Stormfur was the silver cat because Feathertail's fur was blackish at the time because it was wet, so the Tribe cats mistook Stormfur for the silver cat. In order to save Crowpaw from being killed, Feathertail loosens a rock spike from the roof of the cave and plummets to the floor with it, crushing Sharptooth, yet Feathertail herself also dies from the impact. Feathertail is buried at the base of the Cave of Rushing Water's waterfall and the remaining five cats continue traveling home towards their Clans. Stormfur is forced to say goodbye to Brook and Feathertail. Crowpaw especially is heartbroken at Feathertail's death.

Meanwhile, Leafpaw, the ThunderClan medicine cat apprentice and Squirrelpaw's sister, has had to deal with the threats at home. The forest's destruction has begun and the whole forest is being uprooted by Twolegs. Near the end of the book, she enters into what seems to be a cave but turns out to be a Twoleg trap for cats and was captured by the Twolegs.

Warriors Book: "The New Prophecy: Midnight"

Midnight is the first novel in Warriors: The New Prophecy. It opens a year after The Darkest Hour, with StarClan choosing four cats to go on a journey. A prophecy is revealed: Darkness, Air, Water, and Sky, will come together, and shake the forest to its roots. This is the prophecy that Midnight and the next two novels - Moonrise and Dawn - revolve around.

Plot Summary

New cats of all Clans, particularly of ThunderClan, are introduced. Bramblepaw, Tigerstar's son, has become Brambleclaw. Firestar has had two kits with Sandstorm, named Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw.

StarClan, the spirits of the cats who have passed away, come to Brambleclaw in a dream to ask for help, and he is unnerved by their warning that "a time of trouble is coming to the forest" and that "a new prophecy must be fulfilled if the Clans are to survive." Bluestar, the StarClan cat and former leader of ThunderClan, also tells him that he has "been chosen to meet with three other cats at the new moon, and you must listen to what midnight tells you." After Brambleclaw discovers that his sister, Tawnypelt of ShadowClan, also had the dream, he decides to do as the prophecy says and meet at the new moon with the other chosen cats, who turn out to be Feathertail of RiverClan and Crowpaw of WindClan. Squirrelpaw, who tracks Brambleclaw from camp, and Stormfur, who accompanies his sister Feathertail, also attend the meeting and find out about the prophecy though they aren't the chosen cats. The meeting ends abruptly when Crowpaw leaves, convinced that all the dreams have been a mistake. Later, StarClan sends Cinderpelt an ominous omen, which she interprets to mean that fire and tiger will destroy the forest. Leafpaw concludes that the warning must mean Squirrelpaw and Brambleclaw, the daughter of Firestar and the son of Tigerstar, respectively. Firestar is determined to keep Squirrelpaw and Brambleclaw apart to stop the prophecy from happening.

Later on, Brambleclaw has another dream of a large body of salty water with the sun seeming to drown into it, but doesn't believe it's a prophecy until Ravenpaw, a loner (stray cat) tells him that it is a real place. Brambleclaw determines that it means StarClan want him to go to the sun-drown place with the other chosen cats. He informs the other chosen cats of his idea, and they all agree to leave. Squirrelpaw and Stormfur decide to go with them.

The six cats steal away from their Clans and begin their journey to the sun-drown place. They get lost when they get to the "Twoleg nests" (human houses) and get an old loner named Purdy to guide them. Purdy leads them through the Twoleg nests and Thunderpaths (roads) and then leaves them. From there they continue on their way. Along their journey StarClan sends the chosen cats each their own saltwater sign to tell them they're going the right way.

When they finally reach their destination, they find a cavern. Inside the cavern they find what they came to see: Midnight. All of the Clan cats are surprised to see that the Midnight StarClan refers to is not a time, but an extremely intelligent badger, who can speak cat, rabbit, fox, dog, and many other languages. She reveals to them that Twolegs are going to destroy the forest that the Clans have lived in forever, to make Thunderpaths and more nests. She tells them that the cats must either leave the forest or starve with no prey, and that a dying warrior will lead them to their new home. The book ends with a short epilogue back in the forest, where Firestar and Graystripe witness the Twolegs beginning to destroy ThunderClan's territory.

Warriors Book: "Darkest Hour"

The Darkest Hour is the sixth and last book in the original Warriors series by Erin Hunter, featuring the fictional character Firestar, a cat. The novel centers around a group of feral cats living in four Clans, ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, and ShadowClan. It was published on October 1, 2004, by HarperCollins Publishers.[1] The story chronicles the events directly after A Dangerous Path and leads to the much-awaited final battle for the forest.

Plot Summary

Fireheart, along with the medicine cat Cinderpelt, travels to the cave of Mothermouth to undergo the traditional ceremony to become a Clan leader in which he receives his nine lives and the name of 'star.' The ceremony is interrupted when a huge hill of bones appears, followed by a river of blood. During this chaos, Bluestar, the previous leader of ThunderClan, gives him the prophecy:

"Four will become two. Lion and Tiger will meet in battle, and blood will rule the forest."

Extras!
Upon returning to ThunderClan's camp, the newly named Firestar appoints a deputy, Whitestorm, and then turns his suspicions to Darkstripe, a former ally of Tigerstar's. On Firestar's way back from hunting with his apprentice Bramblepaw, Firestar finds Sorrelkit, a ThunderClan kit, poisoned by deathberries. Graystripe attacks Darkstripe, whom he accuses of feeding the deathberries to Sorrelkit. Sorrelkit recovers and reveals that Darkstripe fed the berries to her so she could not tell Firestar that Darkstripe was meeting Blackfoot, the ShadowClan deputy, on their territory. Darkstripe is exiled from ThunderClan and goes to join Tigerstar.
Sandstorm is wary and uncomfortable with Firestar at the beginning of the book, but eventually warms up to him. Though their relationship isn't shown much because of the conflicts with Scourge and Tigerstar, Sandstorm made sure Firestar knew of her love for him. However, Sandstorm still doesn't know that Firestar's dreams are filled with Spottedleaf, his first and forbidden love. Because their time together is limited, Sandstorm is barely shown in this book, yet she still has a major role, filling Firestar with hope. At the Gathering, Tigerstar proposes to unite the four Clans under one Clan, TigerClan. As Tigerstar is the ShadowClan leader, ShadowClan is automatically a part of TigerClan, and RiverClan has agreed to join them. ThunderClan and WindClan both refuse to join. Soon after the Gathering, TigerClan attacks WindClan, weakening their warriors greatly and slaughtering an apprentice, Gorsepaw. Graystripe wants to see his RiverClan kittens, now part of TigerClan, so Graystripe, Firestar and Ravenpaw go to TigerClan territory and find not only Graystripe's kits (Featherpaw and Stormpaw), but Bluestar's kits (Mistyfoot and Stonefur) prisoners. Tigerstar accuses them of being half-Clan cats and traitors. Stonefur is killed by Blackfoot and Darkstripe after refusing to kill Graystripe's kits to prove his "loyalty" to TigerClan. Firestar, Graystripe and Ravenpaw manage to escape with the remaining prisoners. When time runs out for Tigerstar's offer, Firestar prepares to fight. Tigerstar orders BloodClan to fight for him, yet they will only obey Scourge. Firestar takes the chance to tell Scourge of Tigerstar's wicked past. After hearing everything, Scourge decides that there will be no battle that day, and Tigerstar attacks him. Scourge fights(though this is hardly a fight.) and kills Tigerstar in one blow by ripping him open, wiping out all nine of his lives. To Firestar's shock, Scourge gives all of the forest Clans three days to either leave the forest, or fight BloodClan for it.

To face this danger, the four Clans unite, calling their alliance LionClan, and go into battle against BloodClan at the dawn of the third day. Whitestorm, the ThunderClan deputy, is killed by the BloodClan deputy, Bone, who is later killed by a group of apprentices. Whitestorm's last wish was to appoint Graystripe as deputy and Firestar complies. At the end of the battle, Firestar loses his first life to Scourge. He was revived by StarClan, and Bluestar tells him that there were always five Clans (the fifth being StarClan). Firestar then comes back, much to Scourge's shock, as Scourge did not believe in StarClan. Firestar then defeats Scourge. The BloodClan cats, in shock of the loss of their leader, are driven away. LionClan splits back into the four Clans.

Plot summary

Fireheart, the recently appointed deputy, struggles to keep the ThunderClan cats together, and he even breaks traditions in order to avert catastrophes.

Tigerstar, the new leader of ShadowClan and former treacherous deputy of ThunderClan, has let loose a pack of terrible, bloodthirsty dogs into the forest. Throughout the book, there are multiple signs of the dogs, the most noticeable on being the time when two apprentices attempt to find out what was trespassing on their land. One of these two apprentices is killed, and the other one is ravaged so that she loses one ear and one eye. Bluestar has lost faith in StarClan and thinks that she can only trust Fireheart and Whitestorm. She suspects everyone of treason and even accuses Fireheart of it. With so many secrets already, even more are being revealed—for instance, Bluestar is the mother of the RiverClan warriors Mistyfoot and Stonefur, and her mate was Oakheart, the former RiverClan deputy. Fireheart makes a plan to get rid of the dogs, but Tigerclaw stops him. Bluestar loses her last life while saving Fireheart. Moments before her death, Bluestar reminds Fireheart of the ancient prophecy of StarClan: that fire will save the Clan. Bluestar reveals to Fireheart that all along he was the fire that would save the Clan.

Plot summary

After the exile of the traitorous Tigerclaw, Fireheart has taken over his role as the deputy of ThunderClan. Most of the cats are still shocked at Tigerclaw's disloyalty and many warriors are badly injured.

The Clan leader, Bluestar, is a shadow of her former self, her mind having been damaged by the shock, so it is up to Fireheart to supervise the daily life of the ThunderClan cats. He does his best to lead and to represent the Clan, to make important decisions, to find solutions and to handle ominous omens. He also has to train Cloudpaw, his disrespectful nephew and apprentice, and find and rescue him when humans capture him. He manages to find comfort in his "friendship" with Sandstorm, and with Cinderpelt, his former apprentice who is now training to become a medicine cat.

Extras!
The book reaches its climax when a fire sweeps through the forest, destroying almost every thing in the ThunderClan camp and taking the lives of several cats, including the medicine cat Yellowfang. After a storm puts out the fire, the ThunderClan cats start to rebuild their camp, but Tigerclaw's menace and the scarcity of prey in the burned forest continues to worry them.

The cats are exhausted by the redoubled patrols and hard work even though the atmosphere is quite peaceful as the hot summer days drag by and there is no open war and battles between the Clans. Later, Tigerclaw reappears leading a band of rogue cats. The book ends when the forest cats see Tigerclaw as the new ShadowClan leader at a Gathering.

Warriors Book: "Forest of Secrets"

Forest of Secrets is the third book in the Warriors series, written by Cherith Baldry and Kate Cary under the pen name of Erin Hunter. This individual book was written by Cherith Baldry.

Plot summary

Fireheart is determined to uncover the truth about Tigerclaw, the ambitious deputy of ThunderClan who he suspects had killed the former deputy, Redtail, and also tried murdering the current leader, Bluestar. Fireheart secretly travels to speak with cats of enemy Clans and with a former member of his own Clan named Ravenpaw about the battle at Sunningrocks, in which Redtail died, and his suspicions are confirmed. Oakheart, the previous RiverClan deputy, had been killed in an accident because of a rockfall, instead of being killed by Redtail. However, Bluestar does not believe him when he tells her his story. In his quest, he learns other secrets as well, for instance about the identity of Bluestar's kits, which were said to have been lost long ago. He also takes a new apprentice, Cloudpaw, his sister Princess's firstborn.

Soon the forest cats are faced with another menace, the river swelled after the thaw, threatening especially RiverClan, whose camp was badly damaged by the flood. Fireheart and his best friend Graystripe save some RiverClan kits from drowning and also offer the RiverClan cats to help them with hunting when they see the trouble and damage the flood has put them through.

Meanwhile, Graystripe goes through a tragic love story with the beautiful tabby she-cat Silverstream, daughter of the RiverClan leader Crookedstar. Silverstream becomes pregnant and dies while giving birth to two kits. Cinderpaw, who is now apprenticed to the ThunderClan medicine cat, Yellowfang, becomes terribly upset when Silverstream dies, as she was called upon by Fireheart to help with the kitting. It seems like she will never forgive herself. Graystripe is frowned upon by his Clan mates for taking a mate from another Clan.

The book reaches its climax when Tigerclaw himself, revealing his true colors as a traitor, leads a group of rogue cats to attack the ThunderClan camp and tries to kill Bluestar in an attempt to become leader. The attack is repelled, Tigerclaw's true intentions are revealed and he is exiled and Fireheart becomes the new deputy. However, many of the elders doubt Fireheart's position as deputy because Bluestar, in forgetting to appoint a new deputy before midnight, inadvertently broke the warrior code.

In the end, Graystripe comes to the conclusion to join RiverClan so he can be with his kits.

Warriors Book: "Fire and Ice"

Fire and Ice is the second book in the Warriors series, written by Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry under the pen name of Erin Hunter. This individual book was written by Kate Cary.

The plot is centered around Fireheart and Graystripe, newly promoted warriors of ThunderClan, one of the four cat clans living in the wilderness. It takes up where the previous book left off, and presents the events taking place between late Autumn and late Winter.

Plot summary

The first warrior assignment of Fireheart and his friend Graystripe is to find and bring back the cats of WindClan who were driven out from their hunting grounds by ShadowClan. They find the cats living in canals below a remote intersection of highways, and convince them to return to their territory. On their way back from the successful mission, they decide to take a shortcut through RiverClan territory, but they are spotted by a patrol. A fight ensues, and a RiverClan warrior, Whiteclaw, is killed, marking the beginning of new hostilities between the Clans.

Soon after, the two young warriors are given their first apprentices. Fireheart is given Cinderpaw, a lively, enthusiastic gray she-cat, and Graystripe is given Brackenpaw, a golden-brown tabby tom. Winter arrives soon, a hard season for the feral cats because of the scarcity of prey and illnesses that claim several lives. Fireheart is meanwhile reunited with his sister, Princess, a house cat. Later, she offers one of her kittens - named Cloudkit by Bluestar, the ThunderClan leader - for Fireheart to bring to the Clan. Fireheart also finds a new friend in Sandpaw, a young she-cat who has grown fond of him after he saved her life. Additionally, he is frequently visited in his dreams by his first and forbidden love, the now deceased Spottedleaf, to give him counsel, warning and comfort.

When Graystripe falls into the river on RiverClan territory, the beautiful tabby Silverstream—daughter of the RiverClan leader, Crookedstar—saves Graystripe's life. They two later fall in love and Graystripe starts to neglect his Clan duties to secretly meet with Silverstream. Fireheart soon has to mentor Cinderpaw as well as Brackenpaw when Graystripe isn't around. This leads to tensions between him and Fireheart. His Clan also begins to suspect him of disloyalty.

The main antagonist of the book is Tigerclaw, the ThunderClan deputy, who continues to give a hard time to Fireheart and Graystripe. After realizing he is not satisfied with being deputy, he sets up a trap to murder Bluestar so he can be leader himself. However, Fireheart's apprentice Cinderpaw falls into Tigerclaw's trap, becoming crippled for life. During a battle against Riverclan and ShadowClan, Tigerclaw sees Fireheart let Silverstream escape from his grasp and now plans to turn the Clan against Fireheart. There are other signs showing that Tigerclaw can never be trusted as well, but Bluestar continues to have faith in the dark-hearted warrior.
